About Me

I was born with a mouse in my hand and a Jumpstart CD already in the drive. I lived for KidPix and my mom printed my first “artwork” in MS Paint. Shout out to Mrs. F for showing me my way around an iMac in 4th grade.

Representing my elementary school’s tech club (I’m second from right).

I got my first email at age 7 and taught myself HTML at age 11. In every iteration of web design since then I’ve tried to make my mark. Geocities, Xanga, MatMice, Blogspot, Freewebs… up until I had to join The Facebook. But my desire to hold a creative space on the web never waned. I have a shrine of Tim Berners-Lee in my closet.

When I first tried to grab the first name domain in college, the previous owner tried to sell it to me for $4000. I kept my wallet closed and my patience was eventually rewarded with an empty spot. My work and I have lived here since 2016 via NixiHost and WordPress.org

My professional web journey has likewise been eventful. I’ve explored multiple CMS-es(?); WordPress (obvs), Drupal, Sitecore, Wix mainly. Do Notion and Confluence count? Because I love using those too. I learned the ins and outs of SEO, metadata, and made friends with those little bugs that crawl all the sites (jk we’re not friends). You can’t just make a website look cute, it has to have structure! And I love to do both! Use the right tags and include alt-text y’all.

After 2 years trading WordPress for PowerPoint as an English teacher in Korea (안녕!), I’ve returned to a new dawn of the web enhanced with AI. It’s quite the brave new world! As trends come and go, as technologies and stacks evolve, as screens get bigger and smaller, the web is forever (to you and to me).

Shout out to the W3C and the developers who have made web design more accessible to the masses, and to the Old Web Warriors at Neocities, bearblog, and other spaces that keep the spirit I fell in love with alive. We all belong here <3

Thank YOU for visiting (humans and crawlers alike).
